Dish Network to use fiber optics in Apartments

Dish Network launched a ‘fiber-to-the-home’ system that can offer up to 400 High-Definition channels to apartment buildings and condo dwellers. The service is called Dish Optical Network programming is delivered via satellite to a base system that can support up to 128 apartments in an MDU. The fiber-to-the-home system can expand the programming capacity and allow users to operate more receivers.

Cablevision Systems Corporation is to acquire the Sundance Channel

Cablevision Systems Corporation is to acquire the Sundance Channel from NBC, CBS and Robert Redford for $496 million in cash and stock deal. Sundance Channel will join AMC, WE, Independent Film Channel, Voom HD Networks, MSG Network, MSG Plus, News 12 and Rainbow Media Holdings LLC in the Cablevision family.
